What does ESG actually stand for?
ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance – in other words, environmental, social and corporate responsibility. These three areas form the global benchmark for assessing the sustainability and future viability of companies. For Langer & Laumann, ESG means combining technological innovation with responsibility: Our lift door drive systems are designed to help conserve resources, reduce energy consumption and extend the economic lifespan of lift installations. This is particularly crucial in the field of lift modernisation: Often, it is sufficient to simply replace the lift door drive – rather than the lift door including the drive, or even the entire lift car. This saves valuable materials, reduces the carbon footprint and avoids the unnecessary disposal of functioning components.
We are currently actively developing and strengthening our ESG commitment. A joint project with ESCP Business School was an important first step in this process.
Together, we developed a scientifically sound assessment model for the technical, economic and environmental factors of our lift door drive systems. Building on this, we created a web-based calculation tool that combines real-world operational data, making modernisation decisions transparent and comparable.
This makes sustainability and efficiency in lift technology measurable – and demonstrates how well-informed decisions can contribute to greater responsibility and climate protection in the long term.
